Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová together
Just a few weeks after the end of their successful European and American tour as part of Swell Season, Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard will return to the Czech Republic for a couple of extraordinary concerts. What's more, the duo will be accompanied by the South Czech Philharmonic String Quintet, which has collaborated on several of Markéta Irglová's solo projects in the past.
The famous Oscar-winning duo renewed their collaboration after more than twelve years. In 2023 they recorded the single "The Answer Is Yes" and embarked on a hopelessly sold-out tour of prestigious venues in the USA. The successful comeback motivated the two musicians to continue their collaboration in the studio, which culminated in the release of their collaborative album Forward this year, followed by a European and American tour that concluded in early September this year. While playing in the U.S., the pair inadvertently became the first-ever casualties of the American "culture war" over the Jimmy Kimmel TV show. The Swell Season's announced appearance on the famed show was the first cancelled musical act to occur.
Markéta and Glen's Czech concerts are always a bit different than the others and always exceptional, given their beginnings together on Czech stages. Visitors like to use words like magical, magical, captivating, extraordinary, unrepeatable. In short, great. They happen rarely and, given the other rich artistic activities of both artists, it is never certain when they will happen again. Throughout the evening, listeners will be treated to older collaborative songs from the film Once as well as newer ones from the latest album, some of them in a new "symphonic" coat. There will also be several songs from the Irish-Czech duo's solo projects.
