WE ARE THE MUSIC OF THE SOUTH BOHEMIAN REGION! WE ARE THE MUSIC OF EHMK 2028!

We are starring in a new advertising campaign: 'There is no player like a player'

The South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra and Chilli Production have joined forces and come up with an original advertising campaign that will introduce the audience to the workings of the Philharmonic in an unconventional way. Its comparison with a sports team may surprise some, but the similarity is greater than it seems.

There are surprisingly many parallels between top performing arts and top sport. For an orchestra or a team to run properly, both formations need quality and talented players, perfect teamwork and a great conductor or coach. If you add to this the players' commitment, motivation and willingness to keep working on themselves, success is guaranteed.

An orchestra, like a sports team, requires high technical proficiency from its players. Musicians must have precise control of their instruments while playing any piece with precise rhythm, intonation, dynamics and phrasing. For athletes, this can be compared to practicing game situations, passing, shooting, or smashing. Hundreds of hours of hard work go behind perfect playing, whether you play the flute or the offense.

Player creativity is the key to successful performance in both camps - it improves game expression and overall performance. When each player contributes their unique bit to the mill, it enriches the game immensely and results in a unique experience that remains in our memories for years to come. Like Paganini's Capriccio No. 24 or Panenka's longbow in Belgrade.

Philharmonic players, like elite athletes, are professionals who are expected to perform at the top of their individual game or performance. Therefore, they have to be in shape and follow the rules of lifestyle at all times. No professional can afford to spend the evening before a game or concert in a pub. At best you will be booed by the audience, at worst you will be eavesdropped on by the coach and kicked off the team.

Neither a philharmonic nor a sports team can do without a conductor or coach who must be able to create a strategy, a game plan and lead the team to victory. He is in charge of the preparation, motivation and performance of individual players and the whole team. He is responsible for communication and atmosphere within the team to make everyone feel part of it. He is the key figure who coordinates and orchestrates the game.

However, the similarity between the South Bohemian Philharmonic and the sports team goes even further. Did you know that the Philharmonic has its own custodian? Unlike his sports colleague, he is not in charge of jerseys, shoes or hockey sticks, but prepares the desks, stands, bass chairs, sheet music according to the wishes of the conductor or players. A responsible job, whether you're playing Tchaikovsky or major league.

The advertising campaign is based on original spots that attract the audience's attention and show how the Philharmonic Orchestra works in an entertaining way. Although it is a genre of classical music, the Philharmonic Orchestra does not take itself too seriously and enjoys its new role in the campaign. And we believe that they will impress you with their performance.

Classical music may seem like it's not for everyone, but if you get into it, it's irresistible. With every performance of the South Bohemian Philharmonic, audiences can look forward to a thrilling performance full of drama, emotion and excitement. And without a single foul!

The South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in České Budějovice in 1981 under the original name of the South Bohemian State Orchestra and currently has 39 members.

The orchestra was founded by conductor Jaroslav Vodňanský, who was later succeeded as chief conductor by Ondřej Kukal, Břetislav Novotný, Jaroslav Krček, Stanislav Vavřínek and Jan Talich. Miran Vaupotić has been the chief conductor since 2021.

In addition to interpreting music by classical composers and works for smaller orchestras, the orchestra is increasingly following current trends of combining genres, discovering new perspectives on interpretation and presentation, and systematically working on an ever higher quality of performance. Most of the musicians are young, aspiring, skilled and promising performers who welcome any further opportunity to collaborate with top conductors and soloists.

The ambition of the South Bohemian Philharmonic is to maintain the desired interest of the existing subscribers and at the same time to focus on younger audiences and the wider public, so that South Bohemians who have so far missed out on classical music will also come.
